The Story of LIttle Bunny

Last week after I picked Grant up one day, we headed to the library. This was his first trip there. I know that I'm horrible for not taking him sooner, but when I'm working we have very little time! Anyway, he headed straight for the Thomas books and also found a Bob the Builder book really quickly. On top of all of the bookcases in the children's section, they had all of the Easter books and anything to do with bunny books sitting out. So, I suggested that we get one of those too. Not being able to read, Grant just pointed to one and said he wanted that one. It was called Don't Call Me Little Bunny. I picked it up and off we went.

When we got home, of course, we had to read all of the books immediately. We got through the Thomas books, Bob, and then came Little Bunny. I was in for a bit of a shock. Little Bunny was tiny and everyone called him Little Bunny, but he didn't like it. One day he decided he was going to let everyone know that he didn't like it. First he stomped on some candy that an old woman gave him, then he decided to get a pistol!! and hold up a bank. He ended up getting caught by the police, who took him to jail. In jail, there was another little bunny. When asked why he was in jail, he said because he killed someone! The two little bunnies dug a hole underground and escaped the jail and went to live together in the mountains, where one of their grandfathers brings them food. What a book!

It went back to the library the next day. I'm all for freedom of speech and against censorship, but this is not what I was expecting from a children's book that I thought maybe had something to do about Easter! Lesson learned.. scan the book before we come home with it!

In other news, Claire slept through the night last night for the 2nd time. The nights she doesn't, she usually makes it until 4 or so in the morning, so I'm not complaining then either. Sleep is a wonderful thing!

Slacker

I'm a total blog slacker lately. My whole world right now is consumed with feedings, diapers, and of course the Doodlebops and I really don't think you guys want to read all about that. Plus, Claire hates the computer! I can only get on it when she's asleep. If I sit down at the desk with her in my arms, she immediately screams. What is she trying to tell me???

We have done very little outside of our small confines these last few weeks, and I am aching for some warmer weather. I figures that it didn't really decide to turn winter here until after the baby was born. It's supposed to be around 60 today and I'm planning on going to the park. I really need to lose some weight before I go back to work if they want me to wear something other than sweatpants. I'm seriously considering going back to Weight Watchers. I've already tried counting points on my own, but there's something about knowing that you have to go step on a scale in front of someone else that is totally motivating for me!

Everyone in our house is doing pretty well. Little Claire seems gigantic to me and she's sleeping like a champ. Grant has had some rough nights lately, but I'm hoping it's over now. My husband has actually slept in the bed with me 3 nights in a row! Now if only I could find time to clean my house... hmm, maybe that's what I should be doing right now while the baby sleeps instead of blogging and reading others or a shower might be good.

I do have one funny story to share. Grant has been potty trained since before Christmas, and has had very few accidents. He does great and is getting really independent about the whole thing. Lots of times we don't even know that he's in the bathroom unless he has on pants that he can't get back up, at which point he comes out into wherever with his pants around his ankles. Saturday night, Pookie went to his mom and dad's to watch the UT game. Grant, Claire, and I went over to my mom's while he was gone. We got home around 10:00 and Claire was asleep in her carrier, so I sat her down and told Grant to go to the potty and start brushing his teeth and I'd be right back. I was taking the opportunity to use the potty myself and wash my face. I came out of the bathroom and Grant said look what I did.. before I could see him. I walked into his bathroom to see his head totally wet. I asked what he did, and he said, "I put my head in the potty." This was the potty he'd just peed in and he had not yet flushed.... what are you gonna say?? The night before he'd washed his hands in the potty! Anyway, he'd already had a bath and was in his pj's, so I plopped him on the kitchen counter and had him lay back, and I washed his hair in the sink. He thought the whole ordeal was pretty funny, and I couldn't get on to him without laughing, so I just didn't say much at all. Boys! I'm trying to get him to understand that nothing goes in the potty (but what goes in the potty), but apparently, I'm not getting through to him. Hopefully soon..

Turning A Corner??

Wondering what this picture is?? It was my bed on Saturday and Sunday night... a pallet in the floor in Claire's room. That little munchkin in the picture is Grant. He came and got in the pallet with me Sunday night. I decided to try sleeping in her room instead of her sleeping in my room because that hadn't been going so well and she takes naps in her crib great during the day. She actually slept in her bed all night both nights (without being held!!). She only woke up 1 time to eat. Last night, we ventured back to my bedroom because, let's face it, I'm not 8 anymore and sleeping on the floor takes a toll on the body! However, we switched sides of the bed because the pack'n play has been right next to the window, and I decided maybe it was cold over there. She did great again last night. So, I don't know what the deal is, but I'm glad things seem to be improving. I just hope I'm not jinxing it by bragging on her!

I had a handy little helper hanging out with me yesterday since she was out of school. We went grocery shopping, I got to take a shower without worrying about Claire waking up, Grant was entertained all afternoon, and dinner was ready when Pook got home. I could really get used to that! Here's a picture of my little ham with her. I'm afraid the days of good pictures might be over for him. Every time I tell him to smile now, he gives me a goofy grin and closes his eyes. Claire is smiling more and more these days and really starting to coo. I had told people before that she seemed to be unhappy the whole time she's awake, but I think it's getting better. She's crying less and less each day. She still has that temper and will definitely let you know if she doesn't like something, but she seems more laid back overall now. We ventured to the mall on Friday for the first time, and I was really skeptical as to how she'd act. She could not have been any better, so we've got to go back soon so she'll be used to riding in her stroller at the mall!

One Month Old

I'm typing one handed so this will be short. Little Miss has a cold and can't breathe when I lay her down so I've carried her around with me all day long. It's pretty pitiful when they're so little and have so much snot! She was one month old yesterday. My how time flies! Here's a picture of the 1 month old:

She and her big brother are getting along better these days. Thank goodness!! They even had their first bath together last week.

They also enjoyed some quality play time together.

More later!

We Survived

Well, we all survived Wednesday together. Grant was actually really good. We met his cousin Ella at McDonald's for lunch, and they played for a long time. He was good and worn out when we left and slept most of the afternoon. The only problem is now he wants to stay home on the days he doesn't have school. I'm thinking I'll try to keep him here 1 day a week or something, but not all 3. I've gotta rest some time. Hopefully, we're on the upswing as far as this jealousy thing goes. There's some reminding still going on, but it's definitely better than it was.

This picture totally cracks me up. It's Claire's first real bath. Her cord finally fell off over the weekend, and this picture is from Monday. Look at all of those rolls. She looks like such a chunker!

After her bath, I put on one of her real outfits. She looked so cute in it, but you can't even see it in the pictures I took. I'll have to better next time.

That's all for now. Nothing exciting going on around here this week.. just trying to get through my to do list that seems to be growing by the day. I really need to move the grocery store to the top of my list or we're going to have some serious issues in a day or so!
