We Went to the Beach!
We spent last week in Orange Beach. It was beautiful, and I was sad to come home! This is one of my favorite pictures from the week. I think it kind of looks like they're all praying, but I think they were just looking at the water.
I will post more later about our fun times and not so fun times. If you're one of my FB friends, you might've seen my status on Friday mentioned head injuries and throw up....not so fun times! I took this picture by accident Thursday evening. It should've been a clue, but I thought nothing about it!

A New Temptation
little girl shoes.....seriously, why do they have to make these things so stinking cute?! it was so much easier last year when she could only wear "baby" shoes.

these are so not practical for a 1 1/2 year old, but they couldn't be any sweeter?!
we're going to be in trouble when she realizes how much her momma loves to shop and looks at me with those big brown eyes and says "please."

Our Gatekeeper & My Birthday Present
this little guy keeps tabs on all the comings & goings to our backyard. he's not the first to hold this post, and judging by the 2 chipped feet (that you can't see), i'm not sure how long he'll last. we'll enjoy him while he's here though.
this lantana grows by my mailbox. i tried for 3 summers to find something that would thrive in full sun in the south, and last year finally had success. this just grows & grows and is drought resistant, which is perfect for those days when i don't feel like dragging the hose all the way down the driveway!
about my present....i bought myself a Canon Rebel XSi for my birthday last month, and i am loving it! i still have LOTS to learn, but everyday i feel a bit more comfortable with it. i'm probably driving everyone i know crazy with it, but i have always had a photography obsession and now it's in full force! i am finding out that having one of these just makes me want more!

Our 5th Anniversary!
Five years ago today we were married! It was a wonderful day, so just to reminisce a bit, I took some pictures of my favorite pictures. I'm not a mushy kind of person, so as much as I'd like to write something sweet, I just can't have it out there for all to read :-)! As I said in a previous post, we have no digital pics of the day, and since we don't have a scanner right now, this is the best I can do! This picture hangs in our hallway on the black & white wall, and is definitely one of my favorites!
This picture was at our reception and wasn't taken by our photographer, just someone at the wedding. I just think it's cute.
Since we anticipated being at our reception for a long time to have fun with everyone, we went ahead and did our "exit" from the wedding on the way to the reception so there would actually be people in the pictures.
It's been a fun 5 years! Looking forward to many many more!! Happy Anniversary Pookie!

A Weekend Fit for a King!
Several weekends ago, our family headed a few hours north to visit one of my good friends from college & her family. We ventured out to King's Island one of the days, and met a few more friends there, including Dora:
and Pablo...
we rode some rides,
ate some blue ice cream that was super yummy!
some of us just couldn't take all of the excitement & had to rest a little while.
we ate some more snacks
and by the end, we were plain tuckered out! then, it started pouring down rain as we walked (ran) to the car!
the next day, we spent a little time relaxing because our zoo plans were spoiled by the prediction of even more rain.
thankfully, it only lasted a little while and we enjoyed the festival we went to that night. claire rode her first roller coaster & LOVED it! yes, he's trying to play with her hair...the fettish continues :-). This was one of the only things she could ride, but Grant rode all night until 11 pm. Round about that time, I felt the need to ride a "big person" ride. My body and my neck did not thank me the next day! I'm glad there's no picture evidence of that moment in time.
at the festival, we got tattoos
rode a camel
AND a pony!
and some of us spent LOTS more time than we wanted to in a stroller!
We had a wonderful time and can't wait to visit again soon! There's so much more to do at King's Island that we never got around to.
